What do I need, the essentials, for cloth diapering to work for my family?
Diapers, covers, hamper, and wipes, that’s really it! (As a side note: for my family we like to use the flushable liners also…it makes the poop-y clean up easier and a bit more tolerable for my husband!)
What type of diapers are you offering?
We will be offering Indian pre-folds in 5 sizes to get the perfect fit for your baby. See Packages, Pricing and Sizing page…
Are you offering the launder of covers with your service?
We will not be offering laundry of the covers with the service packages at this time. It would be difficult to keep each family’s covers separate. You would also have to have twice as many covers to get through the week, which would be an added expense to the family.
At this time we are offering covers for sale. In the near future, we will have a for sale/trade link, Trade UP!. You can list your used covers with the opportunity to purchase the next size covers at a reduced price (or trade) from other families using our service.
What brand of covers are you offering through Sonrise Diaper Service?
We are offering Bumkins, Bummis, see Fancy Pants and NHDCanada (economy) covers see Packages, Pricing & Sizing. They come in white and fun prints!
Are there other folding options for prefolds?
See our folding techniques link…
What is the washing process for your service?
We are currently using a commercial laundry facility in Clifton Park. They follow strict guidelines related to nursing homes and hospitals. I will be visiting the facility to get more specifics on the ’process’ and will list them in the near future.
How do I store the soiled diapers?
In either a hamper or pail with a lid. Sonrise offers a hamper with a scented ‘deo-disk’ that works just like a clothes hamper. Using standard plastic garbage bags, once one is full just replace the bag (bags provided) and place the full bag (tied off) in the place previously determined for pick up.
What do I do with the solids (POOP) in the diaper?
Simply shake what you can off into the toilet and place the soiled diaper into the hamper. Please DO NOT swish the diaper in the toilet. Get as much off as you can and let it be. Using the flushable liners helps with this…makes it easier to remove the solid poop.
What do I do if I start to get frustrated as a new Mom trying to cloth diaper?
FIRST…step away from the cloth! Trying harder and harder will only frustrate you more…take a breath and use a disposable if you need to…
Once you’ve gotten yourself together again…try it again…as Moms we have enough on our plate and we can’t be immediately great at EVERYTHING ALL of the time! Cloth can take some time to get used to and you should be excited that you are even attempting this for your baby(ies), your family and our environment…take your time and get used to it.
CALL ME! See Contact Us!! That’s what I’m here for…to support you and be your teacher through this…we can talk and try to figure out what’s going on and how to fix the problem (ie., leaks, blowouts, wrong sizing, etc) |
